How to loose that post Diwali weight!

Went overboard on those laddoos and Kaaju Katlis? Couldn't resist those juicy gulab jamuns from your favourite corner sweet shop? And now you regret all those over indulgences because you can no longer fit into those skinny jeans! Read on to find out what Rupjyoti has for you!

 

 
Now that the festive season is on a break, let's take some time out for ourselves and work on toning that body for the upcoming holiday season. Trust me, its never too late to start.

So here are my 5 quick tips to help you lose some of that extra weight gained during the recent festive season.

 

1.Drinking Apple Cider Vinegar Before Meals

2tbsp in 1   cup of water, that’s it! ACV, as its popularly called, contains Pectin, which helps you feel fuller, hence reducing your appetite and stopping you from overeating. This should ideally be taken before every meal but for beginners, you can start with just a cup of it before dinner.

 

2. Eat High Protein Meals

High protein diets work on the same logic as ACV, protein makes you feel more satisfied and reduces hunger levels hence reducing the calorie intake automatically. My go-to diet, chicken, and lentils; even if you eat carbs, reduce its quantity and let your veggies and meat make the larger portion of that meal.

 

3. Reduce Sugar Intake

This one is a no-brainer. Sugar and Starch stimulate insulin secretion which is the main fat storage hormone in the body. When sugar is reduced, insulin goes down and the fat doesn't get stored in the body, instead gets burnt, hence helping you reduce body fat.

 

4. Eat Your Food Slowly

It takes about 20 minutes for the stomach to tell the brain that it is receiving the food and is full. If you take the time to savor your food and chew it well before swallowing, not only does it help in pre-digestion, it also provides the stomach enough time to let the message pass to the brain. If you eat too quickly, the body will let you keep eating and you will ingest more than your body requires due to the time lag resulting in overeating. 

 

5. Lead an Active lifestyle

It really doesn't take too much to do that morning workout, however, if you are as lazy as I am, you should start in the bed itself right after you wake up. Most of us are looking to tone our thigh and lower stomach. There are some easy leg exercises help you do just that. For example, you could lift your legs and cycle in the air while holding them in an upward position. Ideally, you should do 25 front and 25 reverse rotations; this will tone your thighs. The other exercises you could do in bed are reverse crunches, leg flips, Russian flips, mountain climbers etc. These will help you engage your core muscles and tone them.

 

We, women, spend a lot of time taking care of our families, if we could just take out 30 minutes of each day for ourselves, we would see a lot of positive differences in our body and a positive body helps in positive living. So let's get our act together and get in shape for the New Year season.
